The Department of Community Development and Planning is responsible for a wide range of activities throughout Marblehead including land use planning, economic development, housing projects, historic preservation, environmental conservation, and sustainable development. The department is also responsible for conducting and implementing research driven studies that focus on long-range planning, net-zero initiatives, historic preservation, and community-based design for development.
